Directions to Law-Free Bison from ekalaka, MT

2001 Chalk Buttes Rd., 

Ekalaka, MT 59324

Proceed through town on Main Street. 

Bear left on South Main Street (the County Courthouse is straight ahead of you), 

and turn right at the Courthouse. 

Go one block and turn left (kitty corner from the log First Baptist Church).

You are now on Chalk Buttes Road (called Central Ave. in town)

and you will soon see a cemetery on your right as you leave town.

Stay on the Chalk Buttes Road for approximately 20 miles until you 

come to the Law-Free Bison sign on the right. 

(The mailbox that precedes it reads The Laird Ranch.) 

Park on the county road side of the gate.

We are attempting to meet all hunters at the Law-Free Bison sign at this time.

We will contact you to let you know if you need to proceed to 

the ranch on your own via the following directions.

Turn right, go through the gate, and head west on the two-track road.

In about one mile, you will come to a fence line at the bottom of a hill.  

You will need to go through the gate on the right.  

The metal latch will smash fingers - 

flip it but don't hold onto it.  

Continue one mile straight west (following along the fence on your left).

The driveway Y's about 1/4 mile after this gate.  Take the left at this point and continue

until you arrive at a green steel gate with a “No Hunting” sign.

This is our gate. Go through the gate, bear right and head north, descending the divide.

Stay on the two-track road for three miles, to the log ranch house. WELCOME!

Please leave open any gates that you find opened, and close all gates that you find closed.
